Description


The Illinois PGA Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 organization that serves as the charitable arm of the Illinois Section PGA, one of the forty-one geographical regions that compromise the Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA of America). Granting scholarships to deserving men and women is one way the Foundation continues its charitable commitment. Scholarships are awarded annually, with annual renewals for eligible students through their college education.

Each Scholarship seeks to encourage and promote the attainment of higher educational goals for high school men and women who have been involved in extracurricular activities, achieved academic excellence in the classroom and have demonstrated leadership in the community. The Illinois PGA Foundation offers four (4) scholarships:

Louis M. Brown: The Louis M. Brown Scholarship Fund seeks to encourage and promote the attainment of higher educational goals for high school men who have excelled in the game of golf, achieved academic excellence in the classroom and have demonstrated leadership in the community. The Illinois PGA Foundation will award one (1) $2,000 scholarship to a first year applicant for the 2024-2025 academic year. Scholarship recipients may reapply for $1,000 awards in sophomore, junior and senior years. If the recipient is a member of a college golf team, in order to be in compliance with NCAA rules the scholarship recipient must reapply each year and no scholarship shall be automatic. Certain requirements apply.

Alice Meyer Brown: The Alice Meyer Brown Scholarship Fund seeks to encourage and promote the attainment of higher educational goals for high school women who have excelled in the game of golf, achieved academic excellence in the classroom and have demonstrated leadership in the community. The Illinois PGA Foundation will award one (1) $2,000 scholarship to a first year applicant for the 2024-2025 academic year. Scholarship recipients may reapply for $1,000 awards in sophomore, junior and senior years. If the recipient is a member of a college golf team, in order to be in compliance with NCAA rules the scholarship recipient must reapply each year and no scholarship shall be automatic. Certain requirements apply.

Don Pieper: Applicants must be a son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchild, niece or nephew of an Illinois PGA member. Additionally, any individual who resides within the geographic boundaries of the Illinois PGA Section and has been accepted to or is currently enrolled in a Professional Golf Management Program (PGM) at one of the PGA accredited colleges or universities offering such a program, shall be eligible for a Foundation Scholarship Award. Selected applicants will receive a $1,000 scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Oscar Miles: Any individual who resides within Illinois and is currently enrolled in a Turfgrass Management Program at an accredited college or university offering such a program, shall be eligible for a scholarship. The Illinois PGA Foundation will award up to three (3) $1,000 scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year.
